Balloon Sunrise provides you with the highest level of service and
customer commitment unparalled in world hot air ballooning
today.
Our focus is to give you the best possible hot air ballooning experience
available.
A Safe Flight
Your safety is our first priority.
Just like Qantas and Virgin Blue, Balloon Sunrise is a registered
airline, holder of Air Operators Certificate VT589205-03 issued
by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). We exceed
and fully comply with the laws and regulations that ensure safe
flying in the air over Australia .
Our pilots are Commercial Balloon Pilots, licensed by CASA. Every
year they must undergo regular training,
reviews of their flying skills and medical checkups. |
|
But the legal requirements are just the beginning of Balloon Sunrise's commitment to your safety.
Our policy is that your pilots must be not only licensed Commercial
Balloon Pilots but they also must have had more than 700 hours
experience in the air before they are allowed to fly you in either
the complex airspace over Melbourne or the Yarra Valley.
The balloons you fly in are all purchased new, direct from the
manufacturer. We do not allow you to fly in second-hand aircraft.
Every flight made is subject to a rigorous post flight
review conducted by the Balloon Sunrise Chief
Pilot and the Chief of Crew.

A Spectacular
Flight
Safety is our first priority, followed by high expectations. Every
morning we call on our vast experience and extensive local knowledge
to decide whether the weather is suitable or not to conduct safe
flight operations.
Balloon Sunrise has assembled a dedicated team of professionals
to ensure the best ballooning experience over the Yarra Valley
available.
An
Enjoyable Flight
It’s not just the flight itself but also all the added
extras that we have learned to do over the years that
makes the whole morning so memorable for you. |
 |
Our meeting
point for all Yarra Valley flight departures is in
the restaurant at Balgownie Estate Winery, located
on the corner of Gulf Rd and the Melba Highway , Yarra
Glen.
From the meeting point we drive you to the chosen take off point
in our off-road vehicles.
At the other end of the morning the same vehicles bring you back
to Balgownie Estate Winery to enjoy a 5-star gourmet champagne
breakfast. The pilot you have flown with will join you to chat
about what happened on today's flight
And Yarra
Valley ’s weather...
There is just one thing that we can't
control for you - and that is weather.
Part of the old-fashioned charm of ballooning
is that it remains utterly dependent on
nature.
|
 |
For us to fly and for you to enjoy the experience we need light
winds and good visibility. Some mornings may look good but even
then fast upper winds make a balloon flight unsafe.
|
|
The Yarra Valley area in which we operate
is sheltered by surrounding ranges and is therefore
an excellent place for ballooning and the odds
of flying are high.
Every morning several hours before dawn one of our pilots is
checking the weather forecasts and the wind readings from several
weather stations around the Yarra Valley and Melbourne to make
a decision if the weather is suitable for ballooning.
For you this means you may not get up in the air on exactly the
day you had hoped to fly with us. But please be patient - the wait for
the right morning is always worthwhile.
